Visiting Teaching Companionship Roster

#1

Post by farmtere »

I am on a mission at the Pocatello Mission office and recently learned that there is a program on the church site, in which a Roster can be created of all the Visiting Teacher in my ward. My ward calling requires that I organize the Visiting Teaching, which entail a great deal of work. Evidently this program would show me when I have placed a person in more than one district, would create a spread sheet, and quite a few other things. Other woman in the mission office have used this program in their wards, so I know it exists. What do I have to do to take advantage of this resource?

I'm not aware of anything outside of MLS which is on the computer in the clerk's office. By church policy, it can't be installed anywhere else - at least not with live data.

It's possible that someone has written a program to do it, but that might run afoul of church policy in handing membership data.

As russellhltn says, visiting teaching can be organized within MLS on the ward clerk computer – you may want to talk with your ward clerk, who can help. Sometimes a secretary in a presidency (for example, the Relief Society presidency) can be given access to MLS to update visiting teaching.

More importantly, MLS has a definitive list of all the members in the ward. The on-line directory will not show anyone who has set their privacy settings to "Leadership Only".

Thanks so much for all of your help. I think that those discussing this at the mission office must have been speaking of getting on the computer through the Ward Clerk, because I remember one person saying that her daughter would go to the church to work on her Visiting teaching, on the computer.
