Building Scheduler needs more permissions

#1

Post by ahancey »

Since I seem to know more in the stake about the lds.org calendar than others (thanks to this forum), I get questions from different building schedulers in the stake about how to do certain things. The latest question is from a building scheduler that has been asked by his bishop to also take over the responsibility of scheduling events, not just restrictions, for all auxiliaries. He wanted needed to happen in order for him to have the correct permissions in order to do this. Is there an additional calling that he can be assigned that would automatically give him this access? I've read in the documentation about a ward editor, is that a calling? Currently, his bishop has put him in the bishopric as an assistant clerk, just for this purpose, but I don't think that is the way to solve the problem.

Thanks

He can be added as a admin to his ward's calendar. But please note - that's only for his own ward. A Building Scheduler cannot schedule events for wards other than his/her own. So if that ward shares the building, someone else will have to do the other ward's events.

It is just his ward that is asking him to schedule events.
Who has permission to add him as an administrator? Does that come from the stake? Or the Ward level?

The ward clerk or an assistant clerk or bishopric member with access to MLS (the Church software running on the computer in the clerk's office) can give the person the standard calling of "Website Administrator."

No one at the stake level can do this -- only at the ward level.

The calling of Website Administrator also provides additional rights to other online tools. If that's OK then that is probably the easiest thing to do. But if that is a concern a clerk or bishopric member can also add the person as just a Calendar administrator. This is done in the Calendar tool itself rather in MLS.

Yes, "Website Administrator" is likely overkill. I'd suggest adding him as a admin in the calendar system itself.
