Search Donations via Check Number?

#1

Post by rob.wagner11 »

I have a member of our unit who has presented us a list of checks he has paid towards the missions of his three children. The trouble is, the payments he lists (check numbers included) do not match up with the donations in MLS, nor do they match up with donation slips from the months he paid.

Is there a way to search records via a check number? Maybe an export feature that can be read in a different program?

I'd really like to get this squared away for him, so I appreciate any help the community can provide. Thank you in advance.

There is no export feature.

And that, to me, is troubling. It suggests there's something wrong with someone's data. Quite possibility his.

What you may want to do is run off a report of all his donations and give it back to him. Maybe it will help him spot something wrong on his end.

One other possibility is his donations were put in under a different donor. If you have different individuals with the same name (Robert Smith and Bob Smith, for example) this could happen. We had that happen in our ward on more than one occasion.

You might look for any donations that match the exact amount of his and see if they are there. (I'm assuming these checks have already been verified as being processed at the bank...)
