In LDS tools for android a person can find out how many wards/branches there are as well as how many people are in the stake.

This can be done by going to settings...help...about

I would like to see the feature for unit count and membership numbers for the stake in the iOS for IPAD

The count on the Help > About page is the number of individuals in your database. That is not the total number of people in the stake. The most obvious difference is that non-adult members from other wards are not included in your database.

If you have an appropriate calling, the Unit Statistics report is available, which gives the correct membership counts.
