You can do many membership related things using the Clerk Resources site (https://clerk.lds.org) including moving members in and out, editing certain membership information and running many reports. You can't do anything with home teaching, visiting teaching, callings or finances. You need MLS for any of those.

If there is another ward in the same building or a nearby building you may be able to add your unit to their MLS in the interim in order to process donations and print checks. If you have a backup then you just add your unit and restore from the backup. When the new computer is available you can make another backup and restore it on the new computer.

Suggest you contact your Stake Technology Specialist and ask for your unit to be added to another MLS desktop as an additional unit

This will provide you with full MLS functions
