Assistant Executive secretary

Post by dstevens60 »

We have a need to call an assistant executive secretary while our executive secretary is away for a few months. For those who have this calling in their wards, have you filled it through the ward or have you gone through the stake like you need to do for the Ward Clerk, the Executive Secretary, or an assistant ward clerk?

We've always gone through the stake. That's especially necessary if you want to enter them in MLS as an Assistant Ward Clerk in order to provide them access to Clerk Resources and to other resources available to the Executive Secretary and clerks.

According to the Chart of Callings found at the end of Handbook 2: 19, everyone attached to the bishopric including clerks, assistant clerks, and executive secretary is listed as "Approved By: Stake presidency and high council" and "Called and Set Apart By: Stake president or an assigned counselor or high councilor".

While the calling of assistant executive secretary isn't a standard calling, I'm not sure by what logic one would assume that the ward could do it without the stake's blessing.

Thank you. Going through the stake seems to be the safest, if not the quickest, way to go.
