Hi Brethren,
I am outside of the US when we have a branch but we also oversee a group that meets in a smaller town about two hours away. The membership records are intermingled which is fine, but is there a way to create "groups" or regional/geographic classifications of the membership records? This would be very helpful because it's often difficult to distinguish who is in the branch and who is in the group. Obviously, we can look at the address to see the city, but it's not very convenient. Thanks!
Possible to create regional group on records?

You can use Geo codes. You can then make custom reports to list each separately, but there is no change in the built-in reports.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

You can also create "Customer Member Fields" within MLS and set-up Custom reports to show which members are in which area. We set-up our Emergency Preparedness Groups that way (we only applied it to the Head of House to capture the family). If you go this route, you will have to manually add the custom member field information to any affected member who moves into your unit.
As russellhltn pointed out above, this will have no effect on standard MLS reports (class rolls, for example). You could export a custom report to a spreadsheet and then add boxes like a roll if you want to do the manual work.

The Custom Member Fields or Geo Codes probably wouldn't be any easier than looking at the city.
You can print custom "directories" by creating a custom report that filters based on city (or custom member field or geo code)... Also, for classes/rolls, you should be able to create separate classes and assign each person to either one.
