Using PVC or something else for LDS technology training

#1

Post by mprusse »

I'm interested in helping our stake members use LDS technology including LDS.org, LDS Tools and Gospel Library. Much of this training could be handled by webcasting from my own computer at home to dozens of people on their home computers rather than pulling people away from their homes to view training at the church. This would allow them to watch the training and practice what they're learning on their own device simultaneously.

Would PVC or something else be better for this need? I don't need video conferencing but rather just audio and the ability to share my desktop.

Thank you!

About the licensing for PVC: "There is a small cost that is incurred by Church HQ when inviting guests to participate in a call. This is a one-time license charge associated with the installation of the software. It is truly one-time; even if the user re-installs the software again later on (newer version or after upgrading their operating system), the charge does not reoccur. Please use this feature wisely when deciding who you will include in a call. "

A number of people seem happy with TeamViewer. I know its use is prohibited for use on church machines, but personal to personal may be a different situation.

Google+ Hangouts is another way to reach up to 9 people at once. For an unlimited audience size, you could use Google+ Hangouts On Air. (Both are free for personal or corporate use.) The latter allows you to save the presentation on YouTube for those who might have missed it.

Another option would be to pre-make a presentation video and post it on YouTube ("unlisted" if you wish, so only those you give the URL to will know it exists), then participants could play it when they had the time and pause it or rewind it as desired to work at their own pace. Just some thoughts.
