Where to set calendar permissions?

#1

Post by carlsonjf »

I am a Stake Assistant Clerk - Technology Specialist and our Ward Website Administrator. I had expected that the permissions for the WWA would allow me to approve ward calendars as well as create events for different ward calendars. I cannot do any of those things. I can edit / add to the stake calendar. I have not permissions for the ward calendar.

Where does one set the permissions for our Ward Calendar? I assume it is in MLS and I assumed it was Website Administrator. Is there something someone needs to do to enable these permissions for that calling?

Thanks In Advance.

Yes, the Website Administrator calling should give you default administrator rights in the Calendar. Make sure the calling is the standard calling Website Administrator and not a custom calling with the same name. Also, it sometimes takes up to a day after the calling is recorded in MLS (and a Send/Receive performed) before permissions are updated.

I know some tools in the past have had trouble with dual callings. I haven't seen problems reported in awhile, so it might have been fixed. I'm not sure.

Are your membership records in the ward, or are you a out-of-unit leader? That's another issue.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

I just checked the CDOL. Maybe it's a limitation because I'm so far away, but I only see your STS calling. You probably should confirm that your calling appears in the CDOL and it's not in orange print (custom calling).

It's good to remind people to check CDOL, but please note that you can't see ward callings in CDOL for stakes other than your own. So you wouldn't be able to see his ward Website Administrator calling in any case.

I don't believe you can see the ward Website Administrator calling unless you are in the same ward. It isn't a 'front page' calling like bishopric members, the ward clerk and the executive secretary where anyone with access to CDOL can see it.

Make that "same stake" and I'll agree. I know that's the case normally, but I wondered if I could see more when searching by name.

As a ward clerk I can only see additional callings in my own ward, not in other wards of my stake. However, it's possible a stake-level clerk calling provides additional access to ward calling information for wards in the same stake.

CDOL does provide this access with a stake-level calling. I did not realize the wards could not also access this information, but I can see the reasoning of it.

Except that I just remembered that I can see ward-level callings for all wards in my stake if I use the Directory or LDS Tools. So it doesn't really make sense. Since calling information went into CDOL first, it probably started more restricted and has just never been changed as the other tools provided more access. Not really a big deal, especially since the information is available elsewhere easily enough. Getting a bit off topic here though.
