Update Deceased persons Baptism & Confirmation Info

#1

Post by shawnsbw »

There is a member in our ward whose grandmother's baptism and confirmation date where not recorded back in the late 1970's. She has since passed and they are trying to update the records since they have living witnesses to both ordinances. Is there anything we can do to help or does this need to go to Salt Lake to make the corrections? And if they need to go to Salt Lake how do they go about doing that? Thanks

Ordinance information for deceased individuals is entered in Family Search (familysearch.com). I don't think there is any need to record it anywhere else. However, you can contact Family Search support to make sure.

That could be interesting. I don't know as you can just enter ordnance information. Normally it comes from either the membership record or from the temple.

If FamilySearch doesn't have a good answer, then I'd call Local Unit support and see what they suggest.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

So we can better help you, please edit your Profile to include your general location.

Right. I was thinking that baptism and confirmation were user editable like other vital statistics. But now that I think about it more, you're probably right. But I am pretty sure that changes for the dead are made by Family Search support, not Local Unit Support. I would contact Family Search first.
