Pin Required
Aloha everybody!
From reading through the various threads on the forum, it is my understanding that a Website Administrator "should" see things that require a PIN each time the LDS Tools app is loaded.
However, what things, if any, should I be seeing that require a PIN?
Mahalo for any light someone can shed on this issue.

Re: Pin Required
I don't think that's correct. The help file suggest it's limited to the bishopric, stake presidency and clerk. (Assistant clerks are not mentioned).jokamura wrote:From reading through the various threads on the forum, it is my understanding that a Website Administrator "should" see things that require a PIN each time the LDS Tools app is loaded.
I'd expect the additional things to be things like MRN and birthdate.

Thanks for the quick reply!russellhltn wrote: I don't think that's correct. The help file suggest it's limited to the bishopric, stake presidency and clerk. (Assistant clerks are not mentioned).

In particular, I was thinking the addresses of members. Taken from this thread https://tech.lds.org/forum/viewtopic.ph ... al#p110256.
I guess what I'm really asking is why the need for a PIN if I don't actually see anything more than a regular user would see? (I don't actually see any birthdate information or MRN under the membership info section--in fact it's empty save for my own profile, though I've always been able to see my own MRN if I'm not mistaken) Though this could be one of those things being crippled because we're on an Android device.
I'm actually glad I don't see any sensitive information, but because I don't see any sensitive information, it seems silly to require me to enter a PIN each time I need to use LDS Tools, no?

Re: Pin Required
Anyone can have a PIN. But in your situation I don't think it's required. At least not now. Perhaps it was required at one time.

Re: Pin Required
I've been required to add a PIN as assistant clerk. I could ask the LDS Tools folks, but in my experience an assistant clerk (at least membership or just "ward assistant clerk") has to have a PIN.russellhltn wrote:I don't think that's correct. Re: Pin Required
As a STS (assistant stake clerk - technology specialist) I'm not required to have a PIN, but then I don't seem to see anything more then a normal member. I don't think I can even see youth in other wards.scgallafent wrote:I've been required to add a PIN as assistant clerk. Re: Pin Required
As far as I know, I'm not a Ward Clerk of any kind. I am, however, the EQ Sec, which doesn't require a PIN.
Our Ward Clerk asked SLC to look into my user profile (for a lack of a better term) so we'll see what they have to say. It's odd though, at one time I briefly saw the leader/clerk resources and the associated links, but couldn't actually access any of them. Perhaps someone in SLC is updating/changing/fixing my profile and that's why it's acting funny.

I can see youth from the entire Stake, admittedly I've only checked 2 other Wards, but I thought everyone could see youth?russellhltn wrote:I don't think I can even see youth in other wards.

Re: Pin Required
No, the rule as I understand it is that most members can only see youth in their own ward. The exception is for certain stake callings, such as stake presidency, stake executive secretary, stake clerk, assistant stake clerk, and assistant stake clerk for membership.jokamura wrote:I can see youth from the entire Stake, admittedly I've only checked 2 other Wards, but I thought everyone could see youth?russellhltn wrote:I don't think I can even see youth in other wards.
However, since you don't have a stake calling, I find it odd that you can see youth in other wards.

Re: Pin Required
Agreed. Might want to verify they are really youth and not 18-year old HS seniors or adults still living at home. Youth have this tendency to grow up.aebrown wrote:However, since you don't have a stake calling, I find it odd that you can see youth in other wards.

Re: Pin Required
Unfortunately I do not have any way of verifying this. Though I'll ask around just to be sure.russellhltn wrote:Agreed. Thanks on the clarification though!
