Tithing settlement via videoconference

#1

Post by aclawson »

Dealing with 6" of fresh people_forgot_how_to_drive all over the unplowed, unsalted roads and expecting 1/4 - 1/3 fewer people at church today (many of whom have signed up for settlement) a question appears: is there any rule that says that a bishop may not even consider doing tithing settlement via videoconference? The documents can be displayed on the remote screen to check for errors and then the people can confidentially discuss anything that they need to.

No, there is no rule, although tithing settlement is a pretty important interview for a person or family with the bishop. But he is the one who decides how to conduct those interviews.

I called a man to serve as a counselor in his bishopric over the phone once, but there were some very special circumstances in that case that have never repeated themselves. (Snow was not one of them.)

Personally though, if I were the bishop I would reschedule.

I would reschedule even if it meant going into January to get it done.
