When I enter multiple lines (with hard returns) into the Description field and then click Update Event, the event is stripped of any hard returns before it is saved. When I mouseover the new event in the Month view, the lines I had entered separately now run together, and when I edit the event again the hard returns are no longer present.
Is anyone aware of this issue? As a workaround, I can enter
tags in the Description field, which look correct on mouseover, but when a member opens the event they see them.
For example, this:
Topic: Love thy neighbor
Assignments: TBD
becomes this:
Topic: Love thy neighbor Assignments: TBD
Losing newlines from Description field

Re: Losing newlines from Description field
It's been a long-standing issue. See What is happening to the text in the Create Event Description field.

Wow, I'm amazed that this issue has been around for so long. Thanks for pointing it out, Russell. I am a web developer and this wouldn't be that hard to fix, but I'm guessing that the developers have other priorities.

Last time I talked to them it was something like two developers working on seven projects.elesel wrote:but I'm guessing that the developers have other priorities.

Re: Losing newlines from Description field
There is another thread about this problem that was started February 11, 2012:
https://tech.lds.org/forum/viewtopic.ph ... lit=wxrwxr
Also there is a work-around you may be interest in as follows:
You can use the sequence
to input line breaks into event descriptions. For example the entry:
1. Jerry - Setup
2. Jim - Salad
3. Bill - Main Dish
4. Joe - Desert
5. Dick - Cleanup
will show as:
1. Jerry - Setup
2. Jim - Salad
3. Bill - Main Dish
4. Joe - Desert
5. Dick - Cleanup
in the "mouse over" window in the calendar for the event in "Month" mode.
The
characters will still show in the "Edit Event Details" window but it is still much better that having it changed to:
1. Jerry - Setup 2. Jim - Salad 3. Bill - Main
Dish 4. Joe - Desert 5. Dick - Cleanup

Re: Losing newlines from Description field
This appears to be fixed in 2.7.

Re: Losing newlines from Description field
Yes the version in use 11/24/2014 corrects the loss for newlines in the description field. Thank you. Thank you.
