Stake Conference Broadcast

#1

Post by chrisde »

I am a new Stake Technology Specialist. I have been trying to find information on the Northern Utah Stake Conference tomorrow and cannot find much information. I found a Broadcast page but it requires a user and password. Is this Stake Conference one that is broadcast over the Church Satellite System set up in the Stake Center. Is there anything special that I need to do to receive this broadcast?

Thanks so much for your help.

Usually for these multi-stake conferences you don't have to do anything to receive it via satellite. Every stake that is participating should be on a list such that their satellite receivers will be able to receive the broadcast.

However, a few years ago our stake was somehow omitted from the list, so we were scrambling to call the satellite support team just one hour before the broadcast was to start. But once we spoke to someone, we were connected within a few minutes. Since then, my stake president has always asked me to call the satellite team and verify that we were on the list for the broadcast. We always have been, ever since then, but it never hurts to be sure.

Be sure to check what you are receiving one hour before the start time. You should see a count-down pre-roll. If not, then you need call support.

And yes, if something happens to the satellite, you can use a URL and stream the broadcast.

Thanks for you help! I very much appreciate it. Tonight, I did check another building in the Stake and the satellite does not seem to be functioning. I tried to contact our local FM, but it was kind of late. We will see how everything goes tomorrow. One more question on the web link on the Broadcast page - Does it take a special login or should a standard LDS.org login work?

Thanks again everyone.

You will most likely have your answer by now, but I do not recall needing anything other than an LDS Account login to access the broadcast. It has been quite a while, though.

Last time, the hardest part was finding the website with the stake conference broadcasts.

Thanks for your help! We ended up streaming the stake conference broadcast to the one ward building in the stake. I was able to get help from the FM group to get things set up and to get the stake conference specific username and password. The stake conference website is www.lds.org/broadcasts/stake-conference

Thanks again,

Interesting that you can download and view stake conferences - anyone and everyone.

Are you sure about that? Or is it just that those authorized (like a STS) can download any stake?

I could not login to view using my lds account. I am the HPGL in my ward. Thus, my conclusion is there are access limits to this information.
