Audio issues with Webcast

#1

Post by thwertz »

Hi,

We are using the Webcast communicator for broadcasting stake conference. We have been testing the last couple of days and the audio has a hiss to it. I connected my iphone directly to the line-in and played some audiobooks and music and the hiss can still be heard. I tried both the test streams but the servers are down so I don't know if the problem is with the hardware or the servers in Salt Lake.

If anyone has experienced this and come up with a solution I'd appreciate it as we have stake conference this coming week.

Hiss is usually a sign that a level is cranked up somewhere. Are you sure the microphone input is muted or turned down? Due to the low levels, hiss is more likely to come from microphone inputs than from line inputs. And just because you're not using it doesn't mean it's not on and cranked up.

That's a good thought Russell. Is the only way to check that by connecting a monitor and keyboard and mouse to the communicator and going into the sound settings?

When the webcast communicator launches, the menu system has a setup selection, one of the options is audio line input level, it can be raised or lowered in the menu system.

I've not played with the communicator myself, so I'm not sure how you'd get in to look at the settings.
