The basic steps for any edit to a membership record are on RKATS at Edit or Modify Record Information. Basically, you just use MLS to edit the individual membership record; when prompted for the reason for the change, "Legal Name Change" is one of the options.

If you're not the ward membership clerk, then you need to work with him on getting this changed.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.
