[Moderator note: This topic was split out from the Satellite disruptions this conference weekend? topic, since it deals with a separate issue.]
Who does CHQ send these emails to? We don't seem to be getting information like this about sun disruptions. When I saw this thread I asked the Stake Clerk about it and I ended up getting some email forwarded to me that was written by an FM group in another state...not the standard CHQ communication. I'm wondering how we're missing this information.

Re: Satellite disruptions this conference weekend?
The footer of my email said that it was because of the subscriptions I had signed up for with my LDS Account. (Go to ldsaccount.lds.org and go to the subscriptions tab.)
It's not clear to me if it was the Meetinghouse Technologies or the Technology Specialist Newsletter that sent this, but the return email was "mht".

Re: Satellite disruptions this conference weekend?
Interesting. I go to the site and it says the new version of LDS Account doesn't support subscriptions, but has an option to go to the old site.
I am signed up for some items, including "Meetinghouse Technologies", but I don't believe I've ever received an email from one of these subscriptions.
I don't have a choice of a "Technology Specialist Newsletter". Is that something that only shows up if you have a standard calling? I don't believe my stake calling is standard, but if it gets me access to something I should have, then I need to talk to them about giving the technology committee a standard calling.

Could be. I'm a stake technology specialist. (a standard calling)mevans wrote:I don't have a choice of a "Technology Specialist Newsletter". Is that something that only shows up if you have a standard calling?
Someone needs to have access. There are a number of resources available to the STS, including some resources found at the the RKTS site.mevans wrote:I don't believe my stake calling is standard, but if it gets me access to something I should have, then I need to talk to them about giving the technology committee a standard calling.
While a "Technology Committee" isn't a bad idea, I'd think you have to have a STS as it's head, and he'd have to communicate / organize / and lead.

Re: Satellite disruptions this conference weekend?
So is RKTS open to everyone, or just those with specific callings? I can go to the page, but maybe it's because I'm also an assistant clerk in my ward? I took a quick look and there were a couple of things there I wasn't aware of, like technical info on broadcasts (which I've rarely needed since the satellite system went digital). I'm surprised there isn't a link to RKTS from clerk.lds.org. It kind of seems like it would be a useful link to include.russellhltn wrote:Could be. I'm a stake technology specialist. It's interesting how the church groups technology and clerk together. In our stake, the technical committee is mostly concerned with A/V issues for the stake and wards. We don't mess with the computers or work with clerks (it's just a coincidence I happen to also have a clerk calling right now). There has been a stake computer specialist in the past who focused more on helping the units with their computer issues. I'm not sure if we currently have one. I didn't see one in the stake callings online.
Thanks for filling me in on some info. I'll have to talk to the stake about whether they have a STS.

It's RKATS, by the way. And the answer is yes and yes. Certain pages of RKATS are visible even if you aren't signed in, but other pages are visible only to those with specific callings.mevans wrote:So is RKTS open to everyone, or just those with specific callings?
Well, there is a link to Clerk Training Lessons, which is on the RKATS site. And once you're there, you can use the navigation links on the left to get to any other pages on the RKATS site, not just the Clerk Training Lessons.mevans wrote:I'm surprised there isn't a link to RKTS from clerk.lds.org. Re: Clerk communications
Great questions, all of the communications from the Meetinghouse Technology Coordination team are sent to the "Technology Specialist Newsletter". It's important to note, however, that not all communications will come from the MHTech coordination team; some will be sent out to stake presidents or other leaders depending on the subject matter and the team sending the communication.
To be able to add yourself to the technology specialist newsletter, you need to be added properly in MLS as an Assistant Stake Clerk - Stake technology specialist. If you're still not able to see it, contact the MHTech team at mht@ldschurch.org and they can assist you further.

What aebrown said. Internally, we pronounce that as "R cats."aebrown wrote:It's RKATS, by the way.
The links in this thread point to the full URL for RKATS. There is a vanity URL that will redirect you there and is easier to remember: clerksupport.lds.org.mevans wrote:I'm surprised there isn't a link to RKTS from clerk.lds.org. It kind of seems like it would be a useful link to include.
