Is there any way to look up a person and find out if they are a member of the church by using only their name?? No birthday just a name??

If both of you are leaders, you can try and search the CDOL. That's the only way I know of.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

CDOL will have leader information, but not general membership information. If the other person is in the same stake, a member of the stake could look for the name in the Directory.

Other than that, no, there is not a way to search for another member outside of your own stake.
