Seminary Teachers getting access to WISE
Greetings,
We have 4 new early morning seminary teachers in our stake. For some reason, they're not showing up in the WISE system. We've verified they entered in MLS correctly. We've sent/received several times in the interim. They show up on the Directory on LDS.org, but not in WISE. Apparently, the Area Office can register them temporarily, but as our local CES staff have told me, the permanent registration is supposed to come from MLS.
Has anyone had this problem before and was there a fix you'd recommend?
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Seminary Teachers getting access to WISE
Last year our CES had to register them. We could not do it in MLS. In fact, MLS didn't even matter.superdave98 wrote:We have 4 new early morning seminary teachers in our stake. For some reason, they're not showing up in the WISE system. . . .

Perhaps that has changed for this year, and if it has, we need to get on the stick and update stake MLS. But I would have thought CES would have told us about it, by now.
But just in case, are they recorded in Stake MLS, and are they in the Standard Position of Seminary Teacher?

Thanks for the quick response. Yup, they're in the Standard Position just like the other teachers but they're not reflected in WISE. We have a new CES office staff member this year, so she's relying on what the Area office is telling her. It is possible that she is missing a step in the process.

I'm having the same problem with 2 newly assigned in the stake MLS as "Stake Seminary Teacher". They aren't showing up in WISE, even though previously designated teachers are. And yet a member newly assigned as Stake Seminary Supervisor does show up in WISE. Any help is appreciated.

Re: Seminary Teachers getting access to WISE
Last year, all of our stake Seminary staff had to be set up by the area CES coordinator. We did not receive any different instructions this year. And we have not loaded them all into MLS.lexolox3 wrote:I'm having the same problem with 2 newly assigned in the stake MLS as "Stake Seminary Teacher". I think I would go back to CES and ask for further clarification/instructions.

One thing you might want to check is to make sure the changes show up in CDOL. As I understand it, MLS syncs to CDOL. All other systems check with CDOL, not MLS.

Good suggestion. In my case, they are listed in the CDOL.russellhltn wrote:One thing you might want to check is to make sure the changes show up in CDOL. As I understand it, MLS syncs to CDOL. All other systems check with CDOL, not MLS.

I checked, and in my case they are also showing up in CDOL. Our institute support specialist is working with the area office. Thanks.

When I was the high councilor responsible for seminary and ran into this, I called our local Seminaries and Institutes support specialist and she magically fixed it. I don't know how/whether MLS and CDOL were involved, but I do know that when I called her, the problem went away. If you're not the high councilor responsible for seminary, contact him. If you are and don't know who the support specialist is, your stake president will hopefully know (or know who can tell you).lexolox3 wrote:Our institute support specialist is working with the area office.

Re: Seminary Teachers getting access to WISE
The word I got back: WISE is "administered separate from MLS as MLS is not aware of the areas that the calling would effect due to school and stake boundary issues."
So MLS callings alone does not work, and will not work, until that technical problem can be solved. It will have to be entered some other way - such as though CES.
