I have spent the last two ward councils frantically trying to get PVC working on my Linux machine to no avail. I don't own another computer so there is no alternative (although I could use my Android phone, but that doesn't work either). For a variety of reasons, our ward council cannot meet under normal circumstances so PVC is our only option.
I have seen several comments in this forum indicating that Linux support was being considered but this would have been several years ago. Has there been any progress on this? I realize Linux is a smaller market to serve, but Vidyo already claims to support Linux. I fail to understand why this is not already accommodated. It is a very frustrating issue that needs to be resolved!
As other, previous commenters have done, I can offer myself for testing if that is what is needed. Please get moving on this!

Re: PVC Linux Support
PVC rely over Vidyo, so lack of linux support is not a Church issue.
Till Vidyo support Linux you can use other free VideoConference services.
The best choice (to avoid platform restriction) is using WebVideoConference, so special local software is not needed.

Re: PVC Linux Support
Unfortunately Linux support is not yet available in the version of PVC we offer. We have plans to upgrade during Q4 2013 (not too distant) and Linux support will be enabled in the new version. Also you mentioned Android OS, it is actually currently supported. See https://www.lds.org/callings/melchizede ... t?lang=eng. Look for the download link under Mobile Devices topic. Or follow this link https://play.google.com/store/search?q=VidyoMobileto go directly there. Hope this helps!

Re: PVC Linux Support
When I first time logged in (with Linux) I was able to download linux version of vidyoDesktop (I suppose) but it doesn't start. Now, when I login, it say that vidyoDesktop is not running or not installed.
There's a way to cancel my data so I'll be seen as first time visitor (and then be able to download vidyoDesktop)?
It's true that Church has to pay for each client download?

Re: PVC Linux Support
Perhaps I needed to clarify. I can download and run the VidyoDesktop software for both Android and Linux without problem. The real issue is that there is no way for me to log into a meeting as a guest. Since I don't have a login (I'm an Elders Quorum president) the software is virtually useless to me.richielloydbrown wrote:Unfortunately Linux support is not yet available in the version of PVC we offer. I'm glad to hear Linux support is in the works. In the meantime, my Bishop and I have tried having me simply call in to the conference on my phone. However, we have had problems getting it to work. Can I verify that there is currently functionality that allows for some users to connect via video chat and others to connect via phone in the same conference?

You can't initiate a call, but someone who is authorized should be able to invite you. Re: PVC Linux Support
PVC was working for me since I cleaned (removed all partitions and reinstalled all) my Pc.
Now I can't use PVC because it doesn't find VidyoDesktop client.
The informations I have say that Church has to pay for each VidyoDesktop download (pratically for each client!). I puted a new registration with no luck.
There is a way to have a new copy of VidyoDesktop?
