Password Problems

#1

Post by M.Grey »

Hi

I am a newly called District Clerk in New Zealand, I have changed my password to MLS and inadvertently been locked out. (I cant login to MLS) Is there any way that I can easily reset my password so that I can log back in?? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure how the lockout works. It might go away after a few minutes.

But if you've forgotten the password, there's two choices: Find someone with MLS admin rights to reset it or call Local Unit Support. But for that, I think you'll have to wait until Monday.

Any MLS administrator can reset another user's password as follows (note that these are the steps for that administrator, not for you, since you can't sign in to MLS at this point):
  1. Sign in to MLS
  2. Click on System Options
  3. Click on Users
  4. Find the user in the list and click on their blue underlined user name
  5. Have the person enter their password and confirm it (or set it to a known but not completely obvious password, so that the user can sign in and change the password immediately thereafter)
  6. Click Save

Got the same issue with a local uni in my stake. They changed loads of the passwords as per recent instructions and can't log in. No admin user left to use iether :(

Is it a call to the global service centre to get this fixed?

Thanks

I do not believe you can delete the last Admin in MLS. (Of course, that person may no longer be there physically.)

Check with your stake technology specialist to see if there is a stake admin who can help you. And if there truly is no one else, then yes, you will need to call Support.

I'm the stake tech and whilst is seem some unit have a stake tech user name it was not set up by my and I do not know what the password was. Time to ask each unit to create one for me for this very reason.

Although all may not be lost. I e-mailed someone from our area office and they have given me some instructions that involves rolling back the MLS data file that could fix this. Anyone done this before does it still work now?

It probably would work, but it also creates new problems. I'd certainly contact clerk support after doing that to make sure they're aware of what's happened.

Well I tried it on my test MLS and it was not doing what I thought it would. It was not a complete roll back but some data.properties file that needed to be copied i assume this file just cover user names and passwords.

Waiting to speak to the GSC before I try anything on the live system at the unit. Oddly i thought the GSC would be open today the Tech pages say it is open from 12pm on Sundays but when I call it just says it is closed. That's the second page I've found out of date in the last week.

Try again. I think Sunday support is done out of Australia where it's Monday. Since the US is currently on daylight savings, it might not open until 1pm MDT.

Edit: I just tried. MLS support is closed. But I know I've called for network support on Sunday.
