Maybe this has been talked about in the past, but can we loosen up a bit on the search filtering limitations.... my search today has to do with the 'Send a Message' command from the leader tools. I am first told that the word 'a' is not large enough and told not to use it. (Why not just drop it and do the search?) Then I am told that both 'send' and 'message' are too common.
I'm sorry, but 'Send a Message' is the exact search term I'm looking for. If someone can help me out and let me know where this thread is about how stake level send a message is basically disabled.
If we need a better db node, can we pass around a collection plate to pay for one?

Re: board search function
I agree that the search function in the phpBB software that powers the LDSTech Forum is quite inadequate. It's not a matter of "loosening up"; the search feature is simply a very basic search.JohnShaw wrote:Maybe this has been talked about in the past, but can we loosen up a bit on the search filtering limitations....
"Send a Message" is certainly not "basically disabled"; I use it all the time. I'm frustrated with the way it treats people who have their visibility set to anything other than "Stake Visibility"; that may be more limiting in some stakes than others (particularly in countries that default to private visibility). I'm guessing that is what you are referring to.JohnShaw wrote:If someone can help me out and let me know where this thread is about how stake level send a message is basically disabled.
For most searches, I find that I am much more successful when I use Google to search the LDSTech Forum. That way I can search on quoted strings, eliminate words, etc. So for your example (if I'm understanding correctly what you are frustrated with), I would do a search such as:
site:tech.lds.org/forum "send a message" stake visibility
If you search like that, I'm confident you will find the topic you are seeking.

Re: board search function
Last I knew when a member's email was not valid, the entirety of the 'send a message' function failed. Did that get fixed? I didn't see that it was, but maybe it's been tweaked. I just don't want to send a 'test' message to the entire stake to test it out.
