New Missionary Home Telephone Number

#1

Post by lajackson »

The parents of a missionary who is currently serving have a new home telephone number. Besides the ward clerk, who needs to know?

Should the mission office be notified? Should the Missionary Department? How does this information flow through the system (if it does)? What is the proper process?

Thanks.

In most cases, the missionary's records remain in his or her home ward (with his parents) while he's serving. So, first of all, the home ward clerk should make sure both him and his parents (and any siblings) have the new "Household" phone number entered into his record. From there, I don't know if the changes in his record go directly to the mission office, but it wouldn't hurt for his parents to call the mission office and let them know.

Done. Then someone tried to contact his parents at the old number, so we are now wondering where that old number is still stored, and how to get it updated. (It was the MTC which he has long departed, but they must have looked up his number in a database somewhere.)
