Combining two records into one household

#1

Post by kerryprice »

In my ward, a member just got married to a newly baptized member. Each record shows the other person as spouse, but the two records show up as separate households. How do I combine them into one household?

Here's how:
  1. In MLS, go to Membership Records > Household Record (in the View and Update panel).
  2. Choose the husband's record from the list
  3. In the Household Members section, click the blue Add Member link
  4. Choose the wife from the list
  5. Close and save changes
MLS will detect that they are married to each other, and add the wife as the spouse in the household. The combined household will have the husband's household contact info (the wife's individual contact info will be preserved).

With the new release of Leader Tools today this can now also be done online at lds.org/leader under the "Household" tab of a member's information.
