Excess Ward Missionary Funds transfer to Headquarters

We have recently been requested to transfer all excess Ward Missionary Funds to Church Headquarters. I assume this is done by writing a check and not as a transfer, but what is the address that should be used on the check?

What we've done in the past is return all excess funds to the stake, then they write one check to CHQ once they've gathered up the funds and determine they don't have any other ward in the stake that might have a need.

Check with your stake clerk if this is the procedure they want you to follow.

First, make sure the excess funds really are excess. Sometimes a missionary pays for the whole mission in advance. That can make the missionary account seem to be in excess when it is not.

Agree with the above. If you are a ward or branch, the excess funds need to first be moved to the stake. The stake then can redistribute these excess funds to other units with needs or can remit the excess funds to CHQ. See "Remitting surplus missionary funds" on this LDS Tech wiki.
