Why aren't baptism names recorded?

If you reprint a Priesthood Ordination certificate, it has the name of the person who performed the name of the ordination.

If you reprint a baptism certificate, the name of the person who performed the baptism is not recorded. Why is that? What don't they just record the name with the other MLS info.

As you can see by searching the forum, you'll see that this topic has come up many times. You can review the various posts on this topic, but the fact is that no one knows for sure. In general, the Church doesn't record unnecessary information. The person who performed a priesthood ordination is important to know, because it affects a priesthood holder's line of authority, but it isn't essential to know who baptized someone.
