Do we HAVE to buy paper through store.lds.org?

#1

Post by aclawson »

A case of 10 reams of paper through store.lds.org is currently $43 - I usually find it at the local staples for around $34 and CostCo usually has it for under $30. Do we HAVE to buy it through store?

That's interesting. The price I see is $34.90. I'm not sure why there would be a difference for different locations (given that you do have a local Staples).

In any case, I don't know of any directive that we have to order paper through store.lds.org. My experience has been that the store.lds.org price is usually about the same as local sale prices and I don't have to watch for sales so it's easier to just order online. But that could differ for different locations and the convenience factor surely varies as well.

You see $34.90 on store.lds.org?

All-purpose plain white copier paper. Purchase paper for copiers and other uses from a store in your local area when possible. (500 sheets/ream, 1 case of ten reams)
(Case of Ten Reams of 500/Ream)
$43.00 USD -- Item:80307000

If that's copied from store.lds.org, it would seem to answer your question.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

This text with the $43.00 price comes from store.lds.org itself: Paper.

The $34.90 price is from Staples EWay (which you can access from store.lds.org, but is actually a separate site): Staples copy paper.

The store.lds.org item is specifically listed as "White office paper for units that are not able to purchase it locally." But given that you can purchase from Staples EWay from just about anywhere, I'm not sure which units that might apply to.

You don't have to go through the website, but you're looking at store.lds.org which is through the church's distribution center, and yes it's $43 through there. However, the church has contracted with Staples and they set up a site for the church through EWay.com. The correct web address is:http://www.eway.com/ebis/div1200/lds/ldssignon.htm, and it does say 34.90 on there. They can bill your unit rather pay out of pocket and bother with submitting a request for a reimbursement check. I have found many items on this site are cheaper than the local stores, but maybe not always.
