Deleting ghost administrator
Our former Asst. Exe. Sec. of Stake initially set-up the Stake Calendar. He has been released for over two years. He recently was called as Scoutmaster in his ward. When he submits the information for his Scouting activities it populates on the Stake Calendar. He is not nor has been listed as an administrator on the Stake Calendar for more than two years. Any suggestions?

Re: Deleting ghost administrator
Even if he is not a stake calendar administrator now, at some point in the past he might have been set up (perhaps by himself) as a calendar editor by name on one or more of the stake calendars. Such a setting would still exist, even after he was released from his stake calling.
But in any case, when you create an event, you have to choose the particular calendar it goes on (although some people have access to only one calendar). So when he creates an event, the list of calendars in the dropdown list will show exactly which calendars he has access to (they might be a combination of ward and stake calendars). Know that list could help you to narrow your search for the calendars he has access to.

I believe that by default, you are added as a editor "by name" for any calendar you create. If that's not the case now, I'm fairly certain that it was. So if he was the one to create those calendars as a Exec Sec, he likely has access to them now.aebrown wrote:Even if he is not a stake calendar administrator now, at some point in the past he might have been set up (perhaps by himself) as a calendar editor by name on one or more of the stake calendars. That's still the case, and so that's very likely to be the way he came to be listed by name as an editor of one or more stake calendars.russellhltn wrote:I believe that by default, you are added as a editor "by name" for any calendar you create. Nonetheless, if he has been made the editor of one or more ward calendars because of his new calling as Scoutmaster, then he will have the option to select an appropriate ward calendar when he creates events. A stake calendar is a poor choice for a ward's scouting event. But if you remove him as the editor of all stake calendars, then he'll not longer have the option to make that poor choice.

Re: Deleting ghost administrator
This is a perfect example of why it better to add an editor by calling and not by name if its at all possible.

This is why its always a good idea to always add someone by calling rather then by name to permissions. I recommend contacting whoever is over that stake calendar and having him edit the permissions and check to make sure his name is not added to the calendar. Also when he creates a event make sure he has the correct calendar selected. If you still have this problem when he creates a event then we might have a problem to fix.

Many of us agree with this. However, when a calendar is created, the creator is automatically added by name as a calendar editor. For this situation the creator needs to add their calling as an editor and then remove their by name editor role. This is something easy to forget. The OP described the former stake executive secretary as having set up a number of calendars when the stake first began using Calendar. I really doubt he was aware this would become an issue in the future.jeffevannelson wrote:This is why its always a good idea to always add someone by calling rather then by name to permissions.
