I would appreciate getting the date for the re-enactment of the crossing of the Mississippi River by outcasts from Missouri

Where did you hear of such an event? I did some searching and was unable to find a reference to any such event. There's an annual reenactment of the crossing from Nauvoo heading west (each February), but it sounds like you're talking about a crossing from Missouri heading east.

Just out of curiosity, what is the relevance of this thread, to the Directory?

None. That is why it has been moved.

Interesting...If you hear of re-enacting a crossing of the Mississippi, maybe the RLDS church had to do that at some point.

It may be unusual, but it did take place around Sep 1988. I know because I held the banner for the William Taylor family group. I have a picture of our group, but failed to note a date.
I'm 92, but I still have my marbles--I hope.
Thanks for your effort.

Are you referring to the crossing into Quincy Illinois? There was a re-enactment of that in 1999 I believe. I was on my mission at the time and helped a little with organizing the event. I also held a sign for the Kimball family (might have photos still). I will need to look back through my notes to see if I have an exact date.
