In the Directory on LDS.org, if you choose "Stake Information" in the unit dropdown, there is a feature for "Search Stake Membership". This allows you to search the entire stake for households that match your search parameters. For example, you can search for everyone named "Johnson" in the stake.
A few months ago, a feature was added that showed the ward name by each search result. That way you could tell if it was the Mike Johnson in Ward A or the Mike Johnson in Ward B.
But sometime recently, that seems to have been broken. At least for me, whenever I use the Search Stake Membership feature, where the ward name used to be displayed, I see "null" displayed. It looks like the webservice that used to return the ward name no longer returns that information, and so the front end simply displays "null" since it doesn't have a value for the ward name to display.
I tried this on multiple browsers, and my wife (who has no special permissions in the Directory) sees the same thing.

Re: Ward name is null on Search Stake Membership
I never realized they had done this. I just confirmed that I see null. Now I know what it's for.

2.1 was just released. (That thread should probably be sticky.) This bug might have been (re)introduced then.
(I see it too.)
