Calendar Reservation conflict Bug

I have found a bug in the Calendar Reservation code.

If one person schedules a reservation in a specific building and room, someone else can schedule another reservation in the same room (same time) if they select other rooms also.

Example:
Our Stake Building Scheduling person reserved the Orchards Building's Cultural Hall for the Orchards Ward Relief Society on the 1st Thursday of every month from 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Then the Orchards Relief Society President reserved the following rooms on the 1st Thursday of every month from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM with 1 hour setup and 1 hour cleanup: The Orchards Building - Cultural Hall Back Overflow, Cultural Hall Front Overflow & Cultural Hall
The system let her do this even though there is a conflict with the Cultural Hall during that time.

I can provide screen shots and urls if needed.
We have several incidences like this. When someone reserves a single room and some else reserves the same room plus others in the same reservation the system is not checking to verify each room is available. It look like it is only checking the first room in the reservation for conflicts.

It appears that you are using "reservations" to schedule a room. That is not the right use of that function. It's really more of a scheduling restriction. That is, if a room is revered for "Ward A" then "Ward B" can not schedule an event there.

Please use events for "booking" a room. There are a number of loopholes with "Reservations" that will bite you if you rely on them instead of events.

Placing multiple reservations on one room is not a bug, but how the system handles it is.

Note that there is no way to target a reservation for a particular organization -- it can only be done on a ward basis.

Thanks for the info. I have figured out hows this works now. I still think it is lacking some conflict protections, but will make due with what it is. Maybe in some future release these will improve.

To what conflict protections are you referring? When events are scheduled rather than using reservations there are no possible conflicts.

Unless there is an identified problem there will be no improvement. Could you provide us with the details of what possible bug there is?

We have been told that in future versions, instead of "reservation" it will be called a "scheduling restriction". This is to better explain the intended use of that feature.
