Combined Young Women

#1

Post by drepouille »

A bishop mentioned to me this morning that his Young Women organization is so small that he doesn't have separate classes or presidencies. His problem is that MLS doesn't have any way of showing a single class, or a single presidency, either in Organizations or on the Officers Sustained List.

What he did this morning (ward conference) was to list a Laurel, a MM, and a Beehive in the Laurel presidency section of the Officers Sustained List.

I'm not sure how to advise him.

MLS permits combining classes. In this situation the young women of the Beehives and Mia Maids can be manually moved from the default classes into the Laurel class. This is done by removing each young woman from her current Beehives or Mia Maids class and then designating the Laurel class at the prompt for the new class. The Laurel class cannot be renamed in MLS to indicate it is a combined young women class. But at least all the young women are in one class. Once all the young women are in the combined class then all the young women will be available for the positions in the presidency.

New arrivals in the ward will have to be manually moved into the combined class. This shouldn't be a problem for a small number of young women.

The Officers sustained form will still indicate the class as the Laurel class. The form must then be manually edited to show it as the combined young women class.
