MLS 3.5.2 Beta

#1

Post by giffordrb »

We have released MLS 3.5.2 as an open beta and made it available for testing.

The installer:
https://www.lds.org/callings/melchizede ... g?lang=eng

Here are the release notes:
Changes Related to Membership
  • Added the User Audit Report which can be accessed by bishops, branch presidents, stake presidents, and district presidents from the MLS menu by clicking Edit and then System Options, and then by clicking Audit Report in the upper-right corner of the page. This report provides MLS user details including the change history and status of each account.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented men who hold the office of elder in the Melchizedek Priesthood from being added as district counselors.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented being able to add women to custom Boy Scout positions.
  • Resolved an issue that prevented being able to print a roll that included only high priests.
  • Resolved an issue that caused seminary students to be set as fourth year when changing them to post seminary.
  • Resolved an issue that caused the prior preferred name to remain unchanged when the legal name was changed.
  • Resolved an issue that caused members in Korean units to have their ages displayed incorrectly.
Changes Related to Finance
  • Resolved an issue where Australian units had out-of-turn budget allocations that were not appearing in the budget allowance summary report.
  • Resolved an issue that was allowing the user to save a batch if a negative value existed on a donation slip.
  • Resolved an issue that was allowing users to change subcategory names under the Ward Missionary Fund.
As always feedback is appreciated during this beta process.

Can you explain what a "open beta" is? In the past going to the beta version was something done by the whole stake and required the permission of the stake president.

Who is required to authorize a unit to use the beta?

In saying "open" I just meant that the beta wasn't forced down to specific units like we do with the first few beta releases. It is open for any unit to download and install given they have ward/stake authorization to do so.

As far authorization to use the beta - it should be given by the stake (Stake President/Stake Clerk), however the whole stake does not need to be on the beta for a unit to use it as suggested in the past. It is nice to have the whole stake on the same release for consistency, but it is not required during beta periods. Does that help?

Hi,

I have a unit that is now on 3.5.3 but other units no matter how many send/receives are still on 3.5.2 - why are they not all updating? Was it released and pulled?

It could be a few different things - what stake are you in?

Dianella Stake Perth Australia - one unit has 3.5.3 but all others still on 3.5.2. I did note that there have been a number of patch updates and messages saying updates have been applied on all pc's.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the units in your stake this morning and from my end it looks like all but the stake unit is on the latest 3.5.2 build (3.5.2_21356). Patches are available to the stake as well, and it should pull them down next time you do a send/receive. Let me know if this isn't the case for any of your units.

That is all very strange - I now don't see it but one if the PC's was showing 3.5.3, had a look over them all now and all 3.5.2 only in the stake, weird :-)

Anyway thanks for the reply.
