Requesting Records for Unbaptized Children
We requested the records of a family that moved into our ward. Since some of their children are over 8 and unbaptized, MLS wouldn't send those children's records. (They have record numbers, but they are administrative records rather than membership records.) So now we have the family's records in the ward, but their oldest children are missing from the household. Is there a way to get the existing administrative records for these children attached to the household?

It sounds like a "child of record" was never created. As these children are now 8, I think your only option at this point (short of baptising them) is to create a non-member record and add it to the household.

Re: Requesting Records for Unbaptized Children
What you call administrative records are most likely temporary records. Temporary records only reside in the local MLS and are not part of CMIS. The number associated with that temporary record may look like a MRN but it will generally have the unit number in it to help identify it as a temporary number. There is also another number associated with the child that may be seen in the parent's membership record. This is a linking number and is not a MRN. There is no record associated with a linking number. Temporary records for family members without a church membership record cannot be sent to a gaining unit since there is no system in place to do so.DanielSiepert wrote:...MLS wouldn't send those children's records. Note that for the children who are not yet 8, you can create a "child of record" for them (with the parents permission). That will solve the problem for them.
