Adding Records (Online v MLS)

#1

Post by austinthemassive »

Hi. We have added some individuals through the online resource, but those individuals do not appear in MLS (we performed the send/receive function). Is this a bug, is the MLS list updated less frequently, etc?

I assume you mean that you moved records into your ward. It usually takes a few hours after using the online interface before the records will come down to the desktop MLS. I'd wait at least a day, possibly two. If the records still haven't shown up (and assuming they still show up online) then I'd try doing a Unit Data Refresh.

I'm wondering if the OP is in the USA? I've noticed that these sort of delays might be caused by server issues, especially in the US on Sundays. Just an observation reading other forum posts!

I've found that here in the UK, we rarely suffer these type of problems. I say that, because we are at minimum five hours ahead of the US, so don't suffer with server delays in the same way! We also might use different servers ie mirrors. This is pure speculation however!

I hope what I've said makes sense! I'm sure someone will be able to enlighten/correct my assumptions.

How do we bring a membership into the Ward through LDS.org?

You request it through Clerk Resources or Leader Resources.

First you have to have the standard calling (in MLS) of Ward Clerk, Assistant Ward Clerk--Membership, Assistant Ward Clerk or Bishop (finance clerks and counselors can't do it). Then go to Clerk or Leadership Resources (https://lds.org/leader) and select Membership > Request Records from the menu.
