DNS
Does it matter which DNS addresses I use? I have been setting all church computers to static IP addresses, but I can't decide which DNS IPs to use. Some use the DNS from the ISP, while others use a Google DNS. Does the Church have DNS servers?

Re: DNS
I have noticed that the church provided firewalls typically have DNS addresses of 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.2. I don't know if they belong to the Church. This information is reported by running the "ipconfig /all" command on a connected computer.drepouille wrote:Does the Church have DNS servers?

Re: DNS
Neither belong to the church. 8.8.8.8 is Google. The story behind 4.2.2.2 seems to be a bit complex, but it's not church.jdlessley wrote:I have noticed that the church provided firewalls typically have DNS addresses of 8.8.8.8 and 4.2.2.2. Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

Re: DNS
The story (whichever version you read) really is fascinating, but currently this one resolves to Level 3 Communications.russellhltn wrote:The story behind 4.2.2.2 seems to be a bit complex, but it's not church.
