Clicking email link opens and email and edits email

When I click on an email link that is not part of my house hold the link work and opens a email to send. But it also deletes the email from the web page and provides a field for me to enter a new email address and set the privacy settings.

Yes, I see that, too.

And furthermore, the same behavior happens even if you have no rights to edit member profiles. Changes you make won't be saved if you don't have those rights, but the edit controls will be displayed anyway when you click on the email address. That's pretty confusing.
