Viewing still image during talks

On our next R/S meeting, the presenters want to have an image of the Christus statue on the screen behind them during the first 45 minutes to one hour of their talks.

Does anyone know where I can get something like this? How would you show something like this for 45+ minutes? What equipment/programs are there to use? Any source for the image?

Also, does this have any copyright implications?

I don't know enough about your setup to give great advice. My initial thought is that you would hook up a laptop to a data projector. That seems obvious and straightforward. You'd make sure, of course, that any screen saver or power saving settings were turned off on the laptop so that the image display would not be interrupted. There are other technologies as well -- e.g., a slide projector if you want to go really old school. or burn a DVD and hook up a DVD player to the projector. But I'd use a laptop and any software that can display an image full screen.

Of course with any projector you have to deal with lighting issues, but it seems like you have to deal with those no matter what route you go.

Thanks!

I don't know why my brain locked out the obvious (laptop/projector) but it had. I kept thinking DVD for some reason. Duh... (grin)

I also found an EXCELLENT image on flickr.com that is creative commons.

All taken care of I think!

Thanks again! (Did I say that already? Yep, but it never hurts to say thanks) :D

Slide projector? Pretty high tech for old school. How about an overhead projector. ;)

Of course there's the usual method of simply putting up a poster on against the wall, but that wouldn't be techie enough and we'd have to declare the thread off-topic. :D

For others who may be needing images without copyright infringement:
http://search.creativecommons.org/ Enter your search item at the top, then click the Flickr tab.
http://commons.wikimedia.org For example: LDS Category
In addition, lds.org has images for "personal, noncommercial" use (terms of use).
For example: http://images.lds.org
and http://newsroom.lds.org (use the Search feature, then the Image results).

In my opinion, http://newsroom.lds.org has provided me with the highest quality.
