Can't play MP4 videos

[Moderator note: I split this topic from this topic, since it deals with a separate issue.]

I cannot play any MP4 videos on my computer. Windows Player will not play them. Last week I could comvert them in Real Player Cloud, and now I cannot! Why were they good before and not anymore? Shouldn't they be better and easier instead of worse and impossible?

Can you please be a little more specific, like what OS is your computer running? What version of Windows Media Player? Which video(s) are you not able to run? Thanks.

Have you tried playing the same videos you could play last week? If you can't, then odds are your computer changed.
Have you searched the Help Center? Try doing a Google search and adding "site:churchofjesuschrist.org/help" to the search criteria.

If you are in need of a really good player for the MP4s, we use the VLC player, it can play virtually all popular formats without using up a ton of resources.

So...I don't know if this is a related issue, but I am having playback troubles with the April 2014 general conference videos. They usually go well for a few minutes, and then playback on VLC suddenly freezes and the only solution is to close the video and re-open it. It always freezes in the same spots at the video, which makes me think that the index is broken or there are bad frames or something. I had planned to view 1 conference talk every week for my family but this error is really killing it.

Try it for yourself. This is Elder Scott's last talk: http://media2.ldscdn.org/assets/general ... nload=true

Play it in VLC on Windows. It should freeze around the 1:45 mark. Could we ensure that the next sessions of conference don't have this problem?

The console dumps a bunch of errors:

Nevermind, it's because I'm using a ghetto download manager from 1999 to get the mp4s. It was the first one I could find that supported batch downloads and queuing. Apparently checksums hadn't been invented yet.

Yeah, I downloaded the video and played it through VLC smoothly and without problem.
