Unable to verify Mobile number

Church Account is the primary user account (user name and password) for accessing online Church resources. Church Account was formerly known as LDS Account. Unable to verify Mobile number

Hi, I am trying to set up this (PicahMitt) Account for my 9 year old son. So we can sync his digital scriptures and he can start his family history work.
He has an account be we have been unable to verify the mobile number.
I am using my mobile number, as he does not have one.
Under the Account Settings tab, Contact Settings has an orange examination mark next to it.
It then displays as shown in the attached image.

The country for the mobile keeps reverting back to the USA, and I am in Australia. I have tried multiple times on different devices to select AU And save it, but it continues to tell me this information has not been saved - see second image attached.

Can someone please help me verify this account, as I believe it has also now caused an issue with signing in on an ipad, wiping all of the saved information and highlights in the scriptures.
