verification code invalid

I went to make an account for my son. We followed the steps and a verification code was sent to my email. When I went to verify the account, a red error box popped up saying the verification code was invalid. We received this error message both by manually inputing the code and by hitting the ´´verify´´ button on the email. I tried to go back to square one and re-create the account, but when I entered his membership number, it said there was already an account created for him. It appears that somehow the system accepted his system and made an account, but it does not let us enter into the account because the verification ´´failed. What do I do to make the account?
