Apparently I ha d already and account and right now when I put in my memembership number it indicates that I have an account. what can i do?

It is possible you created an account in the past, or even someone else did that for you, for something else such as FamilySearch. If there is another account registered with your MRN you can find out what it is by going to the LDS Account sign-in screen and click the "Forgot your username?" link and use the MRN and birthday option to recover the username. Once you have the username you can click the "Forgot your password?" link and again use the MRN and birthday option to reset the password.
