Email received concerning password change request
I received an email stating I requested to change the password on my account. I didn't make the request and wasn't sure how to respond. I'd rather not change it if I don't have to do so.

Re: Email received concerning password change request
Based on your description of the email message you received, I think there's a distinct possibility someone may be trying to hijack your LDS Account. That would give a bad guy access to your donation records and other information that could be used for identity theft. It would also give access to names, phone numbers, email addresses, and home addresses of everyone in your stake.
I'm not an expert on the subject of fixing LDS Account issues, but I would suggest changing your password and verifying that your new password works. In theory, that also verifies that no bad guy has your password. Setting up two-factor authentication would give an added measure of security that could be valuable in this situation.
If you find yourself locked out of your LDS Account (which in this case _might_ mean someone else has access), I would suggest using the LDS Account support page:
https://ldsaccount.lds.org/help
Unless you see a question that fits your situation, keep clicking the links near the bottom of the page that you did not find an answer. After going through a page for the LDS Account Support forum, you'll get to a page where you can click on a checkbox that will open a form that can get you to personalized assistance.
Hope that helps.

Re: Email received concerning password change request
Perhaps. But there's been reports in the past that a test server was inadequately sandboxed and it generated a number of those emails.rmrichesjr wrote:Based on your description of the email message you received, I think there's a distinct possibility someone may be trying to hijack your LDS Account.
Unless someone was able to get in, I doubt if they've gotten the password. They might try to reset it, but I don't see how changing it will make things more secure.
