Locked out of my LDS Account

I tried to set up two step verification, but I am not receiving the text message with the six-digit code. I am now locked out and cannot change anything in my account settings. My suspicion is that the system did not recognise that my mobile phone number is from Germany, because it confirmed my number without the international dialing code. How can I get back into my account?

Does anyone with authority to resolve these issues even look at this Forum? I've had a similar problem of being locked out of my account and don't have much hope that anyone will respond.

24 04 17: I am a Utah iPhone user and am also locked out of my account on the iPhone. On my desk top computer, everything works. But with this new two step verification, I am no longer able to access my account on my iPhone. I have asked others with android and apple iPhones and they still seem to get access okay. Anyone have any answers on how to fix this?

You will need to work with your ward clerk, who can call the Global Service Center on your behalf.

Thank you — sbradshaw — I wrote to the Global Service Center address for Germany (without involving my Ward Clerk) and got a very prompt response. My account is now "back to normal" i.e. without two-step verification. Apparently that has not been working reliably in all regions and should be treated with care.

If you do try it, I recommend not to opt into the option extending two-step verification to all LDS apps. Because if you do that and it doesn't work, you probably won't be able to visit this forum either, although there is no list that I have found that states that clearly.
