How can I use the system to pay tithing from a US checking account while living in Canada?

I am retired from US employment and live in Canada. My wife and I use my US income in the US and her Canadian income in Canada. My retirement pay is direct deposited to my US account in USD. I would like to continue paying tithing in US funds - have been mailing them in to the Church Office Building in SLC but would like to use the new system to pay online. However, the routing/transit/institution numbers are different on Canadian checks. How can I use US routing & account numbers from Canada?

Converting from USD to CAD is costly and inaccurate because of the various exchange rates used by banks and due to the extra fees charged by the Bank of International Settlements. It is much simpler and more accurate to use US checks/payments from my US account for my US income.

It's quite possible that you will not be able to use the online system for your situation and may need to continue another option like the one you have been using or a bill pay system. However, they do have some accommodations for special situations. Contact donations@lds.org and explain your situation and they should be able to tell you what options are available.

At this time, the online system requires that you pay tithing in USD from a US bank.
