Single Sign-On problem (membership # already in use)

I have several members in my ward that have this problem. We tried all the instructions online, but seem to be in a "deadly embrace" where we can't get there from here. HELP! Is it possible to reset an account? Please advise.

If the membership number is already in use, then you need to try to recover the forgotten account by using the "forgot username" link and using the MRN to recover the name.

Failing that, I'd suggest you go back though the Help options at ldsaccount.lds.org, but skip going to the forum. Select "Additional Support Options" instead. The forum doesn't have anyone in a position to reset or do anything with your account. We're pretty much stuck with handing out the same advice found in the help questions.
