When I try to add my MRN and try to save it it pops up saying an account already exists and won't update my account. I need to be able to do this as I am trying to enroll in Pathways before the deadline.

Use the 'Forgot your username' link on the login page and then use the MRN recovery option. Most likely you created another account for some other site (like Family Search) but all the LDS sites use the same login. The 'Forgot your username' link will help you get the username of the other account and then allow you to reset the password so you can get access to it.
