Personal Address

Why can't I update my personal address information? Why do I have to go thru the Ward Clerk to update my address?

There has been no statement about this but we can make guesses. An address change can mean a change in ward. It's probably easier to just require address changes to go through the clerk to make sure they are processed correctly than to allow members to change the address and then direct the member to the clerk instead if the address turns out to be out of the ward. Also most leaders want to be aware of address changes in order to offer help, make sure that home teachers/visiting teachers are aware and so forth.
