Out of Unit: Temporary Record number and rights?

How does LDS.org access when a member is called to serve "out of unit" as a counselor in a singles ward? The new ward doesn't get their membership record and must create a "temporary membership" account for the individual in MLS.

Does the member then re-register at lds.org with this temporary ID and then have the ward clerk grant the rights to this ID. Or is there another way it should be setup?

Note that what needs to be created in the YSA ward is not an ordinary "temporary record" but a special kind of temporary record called an Out of unit record. Once that record is properly created (with MRN and sufficient priesthood ordination data), the person can be entered in a calling in the YSA ward. Then (after about 24 hours), that person will have access rights for tools on LDS.org.

The member's LDS Account is tied to their actual membership record number (MRN). Members cannot register for an LDS Account using a temporary MRN -- only with a real MRN. So a person called into a leadership position in a different unit continues to use their existing LDS Account. As long as the out of unit record is created properly and the calling assigned in MLS, the clerk doesn't have to do anything else.

Great! thank you. I'm glad it's so simple.
