Has anybody been able to activate the code to copy function?

On the meetinghouse copiers there is (theoretically) a way to require the entry of a code to make copies. Has anybody found the specific documentation on how to get this working?

What manufacturer and model do you have? We have the Xerox Workcentre 4260. On that model the feature is called Xerox Standard Accounting (XSA). XSA is set up via CentreWare Internet Services, the machine's embedded web browser. This requires a network connection from a computer to the copier. XSA cannot be set up without the use of a web browser. The documentation comes with the copier. It is also available for download at Xerox's support website.

I had been having problems getting a connection to copier over our LAN controlled by a Cisco 881W and was about try and connect a laptop directly using crossover cable when I solved the problem. I do not know if the direct connection would have worked, but it may be worth a try if you do not have a network drop available to connect your copier.

Using the XSA to track copier use makes it easier to figure shared copier expenses in an equitable manner. The manual logging method was not accurate because not all copy usage was being logged or was improperly logged.

This thread is obviously a couple of years old, but seems to be related to my current quandary. FM recently replaced a copier in one of our meeting houses with the WorkCentre 4260. The meetinghouse librarian and Stake Sunday School Presidency were unable to figure out how to turn on standard accounting and create codes/logins for each ward, so after a couple of days trying they finally turned to the Stake Technology Specialist for help...

I looked up the manual and quickly discovered that it had to be networked to accomplish it. Unfortunately, we don't have a wired network in the library at that building, so we put it on one of the carts and wheeled it to the closet where the network equipment is and temporarily connected it so that we could get it all configured. Once done we put it back in the library and it has been all good for a couple of weeks. Now that we've hit the end of the month they want to run a report to see the usage by ward and guess what? Can't do that without the network connection either.

I had the same idea of connecting it via cross-over to my laptop, but wanted to see if I was just missing something someone else had already figured out. Not a lot of info on the forum here about the 4260, so looks like I'll have to try it and see if I can get it to work. Guess I'll report back on whether it works.
